Pregnant in The Netherlands
You might have a lot of questions on how the Dutch system works, and how it will be to give birth in The Netherlands. I offer individual courses or workshops to prepare for your delivery.
In two- hour workshops we will talk about all your options and start working on a birth plan. Workshops are given in a small group of 5 or 6 women. You can follow all workshops as a complete course, or choose only one or two workshops.
Individual courses take place at your own house. Before the individual meeting we discuss the topics you would like to cover.
I will talk about what happens in your body when you are pregnant. What are the best ways to deal with the changes you go through? We will talk about communicating with your midwife of gynecologist and you will get advice on how to discuss your wishes.
We will talk about a physiological delivery. You’ll get all the information you need on the Dutch system of midwifes and gynecologists. I will tell you what you can expect to happen in your body when you give birth. We will talk about your needs and start translating them into a birth plan.
Sometimes a delivery can not be supervised by a midwife. What happens if she hands over the care to a gynecologist? What are the most common reasons for a referral? What are your options for medical pain relief?
I will give you information on the care you will get after you gave birth. We will talk about your recovery and the changes the baby goes through in the first weeks. We will also talk about the transition you make to become a mother.
Workshops take place every Wednesday from 09.30 – 11.30am at the Kiekstraat 22 in Amsterdam
